Another go

First propper go with my flash....
Once i get the hang of it i think it could be very cool indeed.

These top ones are a little bit blurry because the room was actually so dark I had to guess if I had it in focus and adjust once I saw the result.

And here's a photo I haven't been able to stop loolking at lately. I find Marilyn Monroe an amazing person to view photo's of. Not just because of the way she looked but also because of the sheer quantity of photo's that were taken of her. Amongst the thousands of photo's are some incredible frames. I think this is one of them.

Ron Mueck

Expedition to the Ron Mueck exhibition. Pretty amazing - the closer you get to the artworks the more amazing they are.

This is the first one u see when u walk in.

Flashhhhhhhh...

I got home today and there was a present for me in the mailbox. I managed to pick up a bargain flash for my camera on Ebay last week and these are a few photo's I took while mucking around with it tonight.

Unfortunately it started to rain before I had even figured out how to use the thing propperly. But I did manage to snap a few moments of light drizzle before doing the bolt to safety. Quite galaxy-esque.

Mood lighting from the right....

I opened it while I was at the "laundrette" but these were still without flash cause I still had to read the not so extensive broken-english instructions.

Cropped in a bit too much maybe.

Shot to the head

Well, a couple weeks ago I tried something new - a propper photo shoot. And by propper, I mean Leanne and I fumbling around with all sorts of home made gadgets and Ikea lamps in a strange attempt to make the light in my dining room purdy. It kinda worked, but the results weren't quite what I expected once I got them onto the computer. Lessons were learned, sweat was shed, and I've decided I don't think I want to be a professional photographer :P

Here's a couple which came out well enough to muck around with a bit. We'll be having another crack sometime soon with propper lighting equipment and a VERY expensive camera on loan. Should be fun :)

And the lady in question? My mate Leanne Smith - up and coming actress extraordinaire. These were meant to be her new headshots so we had quite a few restrictions. I'd really love to do a more creative shoot sometime. There were some good candid shots which didn't quite come out but could have been amazing. Another time I guess.

Surprise packet.

I've been super busy lately. Work takes up a lot of my time but one of the perks is that when there's some rolls of film lying around I can easily get them processed. Here's a few photo surprises that I saw for the first time today. It's exciting not knowing what will come of your photo's and even more exciting when you forget what you've taken altogether.

These were taken on my friends Cannon EOS 500 with Kodak 400 colour film.

The loungroom at a cool playhouse called The Butterfly Club here in Melbourne. Coolest room ever.

Random Skate park

This photo seems to make me itchy for some reason. I want to change the composition but everytime I do I end up going back to this. Interesting... I think it could be beacause it's a little off-balance.

I took this at about 12.30 on a Saturday night on my own. It was much scarier than it looks here. I went through some of those trains till I started having visions of my own death. Empty decrepid cargo trains + me = the begining of a slasher flic. I was like the stupid jock guy who walks slowly forward repeating 'hello?' in a blase voice.

BIRTHDAY CARDS

I was originally hoping to make posts on this blog more regular but have been a bit slack. In an effort to keep something going on, here's a couple of things I did for birthday cards for my friends recently. I made them first and then printed a photo of it to stick on a card - these aren't the same pics they got tho :P

a 'C' for Claire - a group effort by myself, Leanne and Giselle.

SHOW TIME

Went to the Melbourne show on Friday. It rained most of the time but we donned a couple of stylin ponchos and tuffed out the weather anyway.

To their credit, carnival folk don't let a bit of rain stand in the way of making a buck. This lady was cheeky in the nicest possible way.
